Sunday's Best Bets: Arctic can be Gold

Embed from Getty Images
Tippin' Jimmy hopes to finish the year off with a few winners from Sunday's racing.

1:45 Lingfield - Mystique Moon
Charlie Appleby was very confident about the chances of this horse who should be winning in the Godolphin colours today. He won two races before finishing a fine second to a horse who has gone on to finish third in Group One company. Confidence is high and he may prove very tough to beat here.

2:25 Warwick - Arctic Gold
Nigel Twiston-Davies is another who s very confident with Arctic Gold who is seeking his first victory over fences. He wasn't far off when second on his penultimate start, before travelling really strongly at Aintree before falling in the Grand Sefton. He is well-handicapped and deserves to run a huge race here.

3:30 Uttoxeter - Queens Cove
Bought for a huge sum is the exciting point-to-point winner for David Pipe. She won really well by ten lengths and the form of that race has worked out very well. This is a weak race and if she reproduces her debut effort then she should take this really easily.

Saturday's Best Bets: Don't Ask, Bet!

Embed from Getty Images
Tippin' Jimmy hopes to end 2017 with a few winners from across the card.

12:05 Newbury - Nayati
Alan King has a very nice prospect in the form of Nayati here, who deserves to make a winning start at Newbury today. He won a French maiden on soft ground before leaving that yard to come to the UK and that form puts him in with a big chance here. He is well thought of at home, and can make a winning start.

12:50 Taunton - Don't Ask
Warren Greatrex thinks very highly of this horse and he can continue to improve for this afternoon's test. He won pretty well at Bangor earlier this month and on today's conditions can continue to move up the novice rankings. He is well fancied today and should reward his punters.

2:10 Haydock - West Of The Edge
I spoke to the owners of this horse a few weeks back and they really rate him this season, and as the rain came they would've been delighted. It is a tough test for this stayer but he is on a very good mark, and will love the conditions today.

2:45 Haydock - Crievehill
Nigel Twiston-Davies is very keen on this one today, who has looked a very smart prospect since switching to chasing. He will be better over fences than hurdles and has a lot of potential here. He will relish the conditions and may prove very tough to beat.

Friday's Best Bets: Dance to this Mullins chance

Embed from Getty Images
Tippin' Jimmy gives us his best bets from across the racecard.

1:00 Limerick - Kate Appleby Shoes
Willie Mullins has a lot of good ones today and I think this is one with a big chance that has slipped down off the radar. She looked very smart over hurdles but going chasing was always going to bring out the best in her and I hope that is the case today. For me if she jumps soundly she wins.

1:20 Leopardstown - Let's Dance
This could be a nice quickfire double on the day and I fully expect this super mare to prove her class on what looks a very nice race for her. She won this last year and went on to win at the Cheltenham Festival, and although this is much tougher she sets a high standard and could prove very difficult to beat here.

3:05 Leopardstown - Lesley Dawn
Jessica Harrington thinks a lot of this horse and I really like his current mark and think he can win off it. He shaped very well when winning a maiden hurdle earlier in the season and if he builds on that then he can feature in this big handicap at a monsterous price.

Thursday's Best Bets: The Special One is just that

Embed from Getty Images
Tippin' Jimmy has some of his best bets from the day's racing.

12:10 Lingfield - The Special One
The booking of Tom Marquand highlights how much promise Ali Stronge's yard has for The Special One today. The four-year-old was third at this venue earlier this month and looked to be back in form today. He drops in grade and has to be fancied to go very close here.

12:50 Leopardstown - Glenloe
This is a horse that has been knocking on the doors in these types of handicaps and I really think today one of those doors will open for him. He was second at Naas and Navan last time but there should still be more to come despite a 3lb rise. He wasn't beaten too far last time out and deserves to make amends here,

2:05 Catterick - Lake Field
Kim Bailey makes a long visit to Catterick and he will be expecting a big performance from this horse, who was a very impressive winner at Newbury only eight days ago. He is set to go up 12lb but carries the same mark today, and on the nature of that win there may be a lot more in the tank for today's test.

3:55 Limerick - Diamond Turf
Gordon Elliott's bumper horses are in fantastic form this year and Diamond Turf looks set to make a good start to the racecourse today. He fell on his only outing in a point-to-point but the experience will do him some good and he will relish conditions here. He's well regarded and can run well here today.

Wednesday's Best Bets: Silver to sparkle

Embed from Getty Images
Tippin' Jimmy gives us his strong fancies from across the card.

12:30 Wetherby - Some Reign
I think this horse could be a star for Rose Dobbin but has something to prove here. He was a really good winner on his penultimate start before refusing to race on his last outing. There should be a lot more to come and this race is certainly winnable on the back of what he has the potential to do. I expect him to have a bold chance here.

1:20 Kempton - Tommy Silver
Paul Nicholls rates this horse very highly and he should be able to run well in Grade Two company this afternoon. He was an impressive winner over fences at Leicester before finishing second to a smart one last time out. The form has worked out very well and he can continue to improve ahead of this assignment.

1:50 Leopardstown - Mengli Khan
I like this horse a lot and the way he won the Royal Bond was visually really good. There should be a fair bit more to come from him and this looks an ideal opportunity to follow up. He can continue to improve for this test and he should run a fine race.

2:40 Wetherby - Same Circus
This horse shaped like he needed a longer trip last time out and she gets it today. She finished second over half-a-mile shorter and can continue to improve for this outing. She is only a 1lb higher than last time and deserves to get a win to her name today.

Tuesday 26 December 2017

Boxing Day's Best Bets: Persian can be a Christmas Delight

Embed from Getty Images
Tippin' Jimmy gives us four to follow from the Boxing Day card.

12:35 Market Rasen - Ashkoul
Dan Skelton's hurdler has been very unlucky when second on his last two outings and deserves to get his head in front. The form of both his runner-up finishes has worked out very well and I would expect him to continue improving for today's run.

1:10 Market Rasen - Argentix
Since moving from France, Lucinda Russell's Argentix has slowly been getting the hand of things and deserves to strike off this current mark. Ideally even softer ground would've been ideal, but there should be plenty more to come and I would expect a very good performance here.

1:30 Wincanton - Persian Delight
An unexposed type who deserves to go very well is Persian Delight who runs for Colin Tizzard and Harry Cobden. He finished third on his return and should improve significantly on that inital run. He should go very well here and I expect a big run from him.

1:45 Down Royal - Minellafordollars
I am very keen on this horse who just seem to have an off day when a poor third last time out. There should be a lot more to come from him, and he certainly has the potential to do very well this season for Gordon Elliott. There should be more to come and he can run a big race today.

Saturday 23 December 2017

Saturday's Best Bets: Gold can Present you with a win

Embed from Getty Images
Tippin' Jimmy has a trio of selections for today's racing.

2:10 Haydock - Limited Reserve
Christian Williams' five-year-old shaped like a very smart performer when striking by eight lengths on his last outing and can be expected to go well once again. He has been risen 8lb by the handicapper but the fashion he won in proves there is probably even more to come. I would strongly fancy his chances here.

2:45 Haydock - Three Faces West
I covered this race in real depth and I do really like the chance of Three Faces West. He was fantastic at this point in the year last season, and made a fine return at Cheltenham. That was a much stronger race than this, and he has been impressing trainer Phillip Hobbs. Confidence is very high and he should run a big race.

3:00 Ascot - Gold Present
I like this horse and I think he can continue to win races for Nicky Henderson. He has been raised 5lb for his neck victory at Newbury but there should still be a bit more to come. I would think he can run another fine race.

Friday 22 December 2017

Friday's Best Bets: Finian's ready for an Oscar performance

Embed from Getty Images
Tippin' Jimmy gives us his best bets from the weekend's racing.

12:30 Ayr - Craiganboy
This horse made a fine return when fourth just over fifty days ago, and I think he can still strike off this current mark. He should improve from the outing, and reverting back to hurdles could work in his favour. He should run a big race.

1:20 Ascot - Divine Spear
I predicted this horse would win on his chasing debut up at Catterick, and he delivered in fine style and jumped very well. Clearly this race is much harder, but he has been gifted a very nice mark and I fully expect him to take a lot of beating here.

2:30 Ascot - Finian's Oscar
I love this horse and he just didn't get going over two miles and can surely make amends now dropped in grade and upped in trip. His performance at Cheltenham was superb and I would expect that form to work out very strongly. He is a top horse already, and a Cheltenham winner in waiting.

Thursday's Best Bets: Pineapple can Rush home

Embed from Getty Images
Tippin' Jimmy talks us through his best bets from Thursday's races.

1:35 Exeter - Admiral's Secret
I expect a bit of improvement from Victor Dartnall's Admiral's Secret here. He jumped very poorly at the back of the field but travelled very well despite the race being lost. He just didn't give himself a chance, but with a better display I would imagine he will have a big chance here. He is handicapped well and unexposed.

1:55 Towcester - Rather Be
Nicky Henderson really rates this horse and he can make his presence known as a novice chaser this season. He gradually improved over hurdles last year, and capped off a good season with a Grade Three handicap win at Aintree. He has been working very well at home and impressed a few of connections recently, he should be a very good chaser this year.

3:15 Exeter - Who's My Jockey
Phillip Hobbs will be expecting a big performance from this novice who has established himself as a very good prospect for the yard. He won a good race at Uttoxeter last month, before finishing a very respectable second at Towcester under top weight in a handicap. He goes back off an even weight and should prove a tough one to get past.

3:35 Exeter - Pineapple Rush
Another for the Hobbs' yard I am very keen on is Pineapple Rush. He was tested on his debut in the closing listed bumper on a competitive Cheltenham card, and to finish third shows how good he can be. I would expect him to improve an awful lot for that run, and he should be able to prove his classy credentials here.

7:15 Chelmsford - Corked
Making his stable debut for Ed Walker is Corked, who on form with Hugo Palmer must have a very strong chance of winning here. She was a very easy here on his penultimate start, before running well on his last start there in handicap company. She takes a drop in grade and will be well fancied to win here.

Wednesday 20 December 2017

Wednesday's Best Bets: Destiny can be Cracking

Embed from Getty Images
Tippin' Jimmy gives us his midweek selections from across the racecard.

12:50 Ludlow - Burbank
Nicky Henderson has some massive chances today and this could be the best one out. He was a smart hurdler last season, finishing fourth in the Neptune and has plenty of scope. He has the profile to improve over fences, and I think he will be hard to beat today.

1:10 Lingfield - Drumochter
Jamie Osbourne drops this decent filly into grade and she should prove very difficult to get past here. She goes back to all-weather surface today and can run another good race this afternoon, and deserves to record a second career win this afternoon.

2:20 Lingfield - Zenovia
This horse has had no luck and didn't get a clear run when last seen a week ago. She is still on a winnable mark, and the 1lb drop is another little bonus for Archie Watson's filly. With a bit more luck she should go very well here.

3:35 Ludlow - Cracking Destiny
Nicky Henderson really thinks highly of this horse, who was very disappointing on his return on Cheltenham last month. He turned out to be amiss that day and hopefully that issue has been corrected here. This is a good place to bounce back, and he should be way too good here.

Tuesday 19 December 2017

Tuesday's Best Bets: Impulsive can be a Star

Embed from Getty Images
Tippin' Jimmy gives us his four best bets from Tuesday's racing.

1:00 Southwell - Mach One
I tipped Archie Watson's horse to win eight days ago, and I fancy another win to come here. He showed what he was capable that day and I would be confident he can do it again. He still can improve off this new mark.

1:20 Catterick - Impulsive Star
Impulsive Star makes the long trek up North for his chasing debut, and I know this is one being aimed at the National Hunt Chase up at Cheltenham in March. The Waley-Cohen's love having a class act and he could really be just that. He has the profile to improve over the larger obstacles, goes well first time out and looks a cracking prospect.

1:40 Fakenham - Creep Desbois
I think Ben Pauling's five-year-old deserves to take a race under this current mark, having made a good start over fences at Ascot last month. He is still really well handicapped and fences should bring out the best in him. He is a progressive type, can continue to improve and should run a good race here.

2:30 Southwell - Every Chance
This horse has never run on the Fibresand but if he does then he will be tough to beat. He's ran some top races at Wolverhampton including winning off a mark 4lb higher and is the best horse in the race here. He is weighted nicely and deserves to go very well indeed.

Monday 18 December 2017

Monday's Best Bets: Book can open his account

Embed from Getty Images
Tippin' Jimmy gives us his best bets from the start of the week.

12:30 Ffos Las - Hurricane Rita
Olly Murphy thinks this mare is very well handicapped and she could go one better following her second place finish last month. She typically does a lot better on this ground, and ran well on quicker at Towcester. She has gone up 2lb, but can still have a bit in hand for her trip to Wales.

1:40 Musselburgh - Vino's Choice ew
Tom Scudamore rode this horse up in Scotland in his bumper before he subsequently changed hands to Lucinda Russell, who's partner is Tom's dad Peter. He clearly thought highly of this horse and there must be a bit more after two poor efforts at Kelso and Carlisle. He is a big price here and could go very well here.

2:35 Wolverhampton - Ballymore Castle
Richard Fahey must have some confidence as this horse drops in grade this afternoon. He is the best here on ratings and deserves to win this type of race in the Midlands today. He should have a very good chance this afternoon.

3:30 Plumpton - Hideaway Vic
I backed The Russian Doyen quite confidently on this horses debut, and he finished ahead of him at Wincanton. The form of that race should work out pretty strong, and the horse I backed before since won on his hurdles debut. He is a strong big horse and will do very well, I expect an improved effort here.

3:45 Ffos Las - A Book Of Intrigue
Fergal O'Brien rates this bumper horse as one of his better ones, and he makes his debut this afternoon. He is bred well, and can run a big race like a lot of horses have from the yard. He has an exciting future ahead and can run well.

Sunday 17 December 2017

Sunday's Best Bets: Don't be a Fool!

Embed from Getty Images
Tippin' Jimmy gives us his best bets from Sunday's racecard.

1:20 Navan - Diamond Cauchois
Gordon Elliott's handicapper could be well treated off this current mark and I think he will be a big danger in Ireland this afternoon. He finished third on his first run back, but is the type to come on for that run and he should handle the conditions this afternoon.

2:35 Southwell - Fool To Cry
I spoke to one of the owners of this horse and he was very confident that this mare will win a race soon. She finished third last time out and there is a bit more improvement to come from her, she is weighted nicely and should be able to play a leading role here.

3:05 Southwell - Cabaret Queen
Dan Skelton is similarly expecting a big performance from this horse who ran well when second on her last start and remains a nice unexposed novice. There should be a lot more to come from her and I would expect her to run well once again today

3:30 Navan - Rapid Escape
I really like this horse and have profited from both his wins so far this season. Stepping up into listed company is a tough ask, but he's one of the best horses in the yard and has proven his class in both appearences this year. He should have more than enough in him to win this and I can't wait to see him run.

Saturday 16 December 2017

Saturday's Best Bets: Ireland can Storm home

Embed from Getty Images
Tippin' Jimmy has his best bets for the day.

12:05 Fairyhouse - Brelade
Gordon Elliott's Brelade has been running pretty well all year and looks like a horse who deserves to win a race here. He finished second on three occasions before finishing fourth at Punchestown, he should appreciate the heavy ground and can run a fine race here.

12:30 Doncaster - Countister
This is one of Nicky Henderson's smart fillies and she can make a winning start over hurdles this afternoon in what doesn't look the strongest novice race in the world. She finished second on her sole British start in a Grade Two at Newbury. She comes back off a break but is reported to be excellent and should take all the beating.

12:55 Hereford - Vision Des Flos
The Tizzards really think this horse could be something special, and that is why they are so keen to test him against the very best novices around. His efforts have been excellent and he takes a steep drop in grade this afternoon. He should win this comfortably.

1:10 Fairyhouse - Stormy Ireland
Willie Mullins' French import has impressed him at home and she should be able to step up following two second place efforts. The three-year-old makes her Irish debut, and will appreciate the wet conditions here. She could be a smart one and deserves to be winning here.

3:20 Doncaster - Kilcrea Vale
Another for Nicky Henderson I am keen on is Kilcrea Vale who is well handicapped for his visit to Yorkshire. The step up in trip will be appreciated and he can run a big race in this competitive handicap. There is plenty more to come from him.

3:30 Fairyhouse - Colreevy
Willie Mullins rates this four-year-old pretty well and she should prove a very good prospect for the yard this year. She shaped very well on her only start in point-to-point company, but fell when the most likely winner. The horse that eventually won, Posh Trish, is very talented and this heavy ground lover should run a massive race here.

3:45 Hereford - Topofthecotswold
Nigel Twiston-Davies thinks this horse is capable of being very good and he can strike in what looks a weak bumper race today. He finished third on his debut at Towcester and should improve from that run. Whether he will handle the ground is the only real danger here.

Friday 15 December 2017

Friday's Best Bets: Stowaway set for Magic maiden win

Embed from Getty Images
Tippin' Jimmy talks us through his best bets, to see his verdict on all the races at Cheltenham click here.

1:00 Doncaster - Stowaway Magic
Nicky Henderson rates this horse very highly and he could be a very good novice chaser this season for the champion. He is rated the best of the field on hurdles form, and made an encouraging debut over fences when second at Southwell. He can improve a lot from that and looks like the one to beat here.

1:35 Doncaster - Clondaw Kaempfer
I have picked two out for Donald McCain today, and I think this one could go very well off his current mark. He ran really well to finish second at Bangor last month, and that was on less favourable ground. This will suit him much better and he must be getting close to winning now.

1:45 Bangor - Waterlord
One of the best horses of Donald McCain's this season could be Waterlord, who was an excellent bumper horse for John Ferguson a few years back. He ran a good race following a two-year return finish, and despite only beating one rival he wasn't too far off. He'll improve a lot and should be up to striking here.

2:20 Bangor - Monbeg Theatre
Jamie Snowden rates this horse quite highly and he has been running good races recently. He finished a respectable third at Doncaster in January, but fell quite badly last time and returns to hurdles today. There is much more to come from him on this mark.

Thursday 14 December 2017

Thursday's Best Bets: Nicky Henderson can be 'Top Notch' as the jumps return

Tippin' Jimmy talks us through his four best bets of the day.

12:25 Tramore - Laurina
Willie Mullins has his fair share of top horses sent over from France, and after two good efforts Laurina makes her stable debut here. She shaped well in two runs on the Continent and can run well following a big absence. This is a weak race and she may have a bit too much class for this field.

1:35 Taunton - Status Quo
I really think this horse will win soon, so stick with him! He ran okay in a handicap last time, but expectations were very high that day. He is dropped another 1lb and likes this track, his day will come and that could be today!

2:45 Taunton - Top Notch
Setting a high standard is Top Notch who is expected to build on his smooth victory at Ascot last month. He won very well that day and takes on a weaker field in this Grade Two here, I would confident he can strike once again.

3:40 Tramore - Best Of Dubai
Gordon Elliott has been testing his bumper horse in some good races recently and he finally has a race that he could win here. He's been in very good form and finished a very respectable fourth on his last outing. He can come on for that run and continue to improve and finally get a win to his name here.

Wednesday 13 December 2017

Wednesday's Best Bets: Spice can Dash to victory

Embed from Getty Images
Tippin' Jimmy gives us his best bets from Wednesday's racing.

1:00 Lingfield - Erinyes
Archie Watson thinks quite highly of this horse, who looked a very good horse when winning on Kempton's all-weather surface back in July. She's been far from that level when well defeated in two starts since, but excuses can be made since and I would expect significant improvement from her now in handicaps.

1:30 Lingfield - Dash Of Spice
Dash Of Spice comes from a very good family, which includes Grade One winner Arabian Queen. He's a three-year-old with plenty of potential following two good efforts in maiden efforts and he should be up to winning this much weaker maiden affair. The form of her last race has worked out strong and he may prove very difficult to beat.

2:15 Wolverhampton - Zenovia
Another for Archie Watson I am keen on today is Zenovia, who is still yet to show her best form on the racecourse so far. She won well at this track in October, but hasn't been at her best in three outings since. Off a mark of 60, and with a smoother passage she should be a big danger.

4:25 Wolverhampton - Mansfield
After the racing was abandoned last night, it may have given this horse a bit more of a positive going into today. He raced only a week ago when a narrow loser, when well backed and off 2lb higher he can go one better today. Hopefully he's much fitter and can make amends.

5:25 Wolverhampton - Netley Abbey
This is a horse owned by my friends at Henacre. They think he is much better than seen on the racecourse, and has a massive chance at huge odds. He was tailed off last time where something wasn't right, he has recovered and can run very well here.

Tuesday 12 December 2017

Tuesday's Best Bets: Dragon set to roar

Tippin' Jimmy runs us through his best bets, including a big each-way chance.

11:30 Lingfield - Mother Of Dragons
This is a horse who I am quite shocked has never won a race. He's been placed numerous times and sets the standard very well here. I would be confident of a bold performance!

1:35 Lingfield - Intrepidly
Jeremy Noseda had high expectations for this horse at the start of the season, and he could deliver here. He was disappointing when last at Newmarket, but could return to winning ways here.

7:20 Wolverhampton - Netley Abbey
This is a horse owned by my friends at Henacre. They think he is much better than seen on the racecourse, and has a massive chance at huge odds. He was tailed off last time where something wasn't right, he has recovered and can run very well here.

Monday 11 December 2017

Monday's Best Bets: Mach the 'One' for me

Embed from Getty Images
Tippin' Jimmy's tips return despite the weather taking some of the racing away from us. He hopes for a few winners.

2:45 Fontwell - Our Merlin
Robert Walford's five-year-old ran out a very good winner a week ago and has to be fancied to go very close once again. He is raised 7lb but on the nature of that performance he should be up to scoring again.

3:00 Southwell - Mach One
Archie Watson thinks so highly of this horse who is beginning to unleash his potential and can win today. He faces a rise from the handicapper but can win once again.

3:40 Fontwell - Llantara
Llantara is a horse beginning to get better for Tom Symonds. He posted an encouraging effort when a runner-up at Chepstow last time and can go one better here.

Saturday 9 December 2017

Saturday's Best Bets: Sunrise can be Golden

Embed from Getty Images
Tippin' Jimmy gives us his best bets from Saturday's races.

12:15 Wetherby - Ami Desbois
I love this horse, but not as much as trainer Graeme McPherson does. He won really well on his return over a shorter trip than ideal and on unfavoured good ground. Conditions are perfect and he should run very very well.

12:40 Sandown - Ellens Way
This horse needed her first run quite badly but ran well and should improve off it. She's got a fair bit of potential and can win these sort of handicaps this season, she will love the conditions and has to be fancied to run well here.

12:55 Aintree - Le Breuil
Ben Pauling thinks this horse could be high class and I am expecting a bold performance from him today. He always needs his first run and shaped well when fifth at Kempton. There is a lot more to come and I am expecting a big big performance.

1:00 Chepstow - Golden Sunrise
Colin Tizzard rates this horse quite highly who won me a fair bit each-way money when third at Exeter at 66-1. He takes on an unbeaten horse of Evan Williams, but is 7lb better off and still improving. He has to go well here.

2:45 Chepstow - Blameitalonmyroots
I really think she is on a very good mark and made a fine seasonal bow at Carlisle last month. She was sixth there but has potential and can run another big race here. I think she could improve from this current mark.

3:20 Chepstow - Longtown
Richard Johnson and Phillip Hobbs team up with Longtown who was a bit disappointing on his seasonal bow at Exeter when pulled-up. He won at Warwick back in March and the form of that race is quite good. He can improve off this current mark.

Friday 8 December 2017

Friday's Best Bets: Lad can be King of the Castle

Embed from Getty Images
Tippin' Jimmy has three tips from Friday's racing.

1:15 Sedgefield - Inniscastle Lad
I had been following a horse called Joke Dancer for a while, who won the other day as expected and this horse was very unlucky not to have won up at Newcastle last week. He should've won that day but just blew it at the last and finished third. This contest is much much weaker and he should be able to win this convincingly.

3:15 Exeter - Yanmare
Nigel Twiston-Davies' chaser looked like he was going to go on and win on his seasonal return here a month ago however he fell two out and can make amends here. This is a good place for him, he is 1lb higher but deserves to take his chance.

3:35 Sandown - Cap Du Nord
Christian Williams believes this horse is much better than this current mark of 100 suggests and this horse deserves to win a few races. He finished sixth last time out at Chepstow but he should be much better today and I am expecting a big performance from him.

Thursday 7 December 2017

Thursday's Best Bets: Plan is one to Stick with

Tippin' Jimmy enjoyed another day of winners yesterday, and expects more winners from today's card.

1:00 Wincanton - Petticoat Tails
This five-year-old has some pretty outstanding bumper form and I really think she is one to watch for the season. Warren Greatrex's mare won twice last season before enjoying placed efforts in competitve contests at Sandown and Aintree. She'll win a fair few races this season, and can make a winning return here.

2:25 Market Rasen - Stick To The Plan
Dan Skelton's Stick To The Plan was really unlucky on her first of the year. He was all set for a very good victory but the jockey fell off moments before winning and that cost him the race. He ran a fine race when fifth at Cheltenham since and has since been dropped a 1lb and deserves to go well here.

7:00 Chelmsford - Bowerman
This is a horse with some serious potential and comes back from almost half a season away from the track. He finished just a nose of subsequent Grade One winner Stradvarius on his debut, before winning very stylishly at Kempton. He is a lot better than his opening mark of 87 suggests and deserves to go well here.

Wednesday 6 December 2017

Wednesday's Best Bets: New York worth a Toast on his return

Embed from Getty Images
Tippin' Jimmy gives us his best bets for the day.

1:10 Lingfield - Toast Of New York
Jamie Osbourne's superstar makes his return after what seems an age, but if he is as good as he used to be winning this should be no problem. Coming back from a break is never too easy, but connections feel that he is as good as ever and are plotting various Group One races for him. It'll be interesting to see what he does, he should be winning.

1:55 Haydock - Joke Dancer
Sue Smith rates this horse quite highly and he should be up to making his mark over hurdles today. He lost out at Newcastle in a hurdles contest, but did well that day and I would expect there is a lot more to come from him.

2:35 Ludlow - Gayebury
Taking on his chasing debut is Gayebury for Evan Williams who looks like a horse who can perform well as a novice chaser this season. He was attempted at some good hurdling contests this year, but he ran poorly and going chasing was inevitable. He is 21lb better than his nearest rival on hurdles form and has the profile to reach a high standard as a chaser this year too.

3:00 Haydock - Duke Debarry
Nicky Henderson rates this horse very highly who can get off the mark on his fifth start. He ran a really good race when fourth at Kempton and like a lot of horses at Seven Barrows should come on for the run significantly. This a good little contest but if he's as good as claimed, should be winning this.

Tuesday's Best Bets: Brunette a beautiful bet

Tippin' Jimmy gives us his best fancies from Tuesday's racecard.

3:00 Lingfield - Allthegear No Idea
Nigel Twiston-Davies' comically named ten-year-old has been a consistent type recently and after several placed efforts deserves to go better this afternoon. He was third on his seasonal bow at Market Rasen back in May and should be better coming back from a break. He's weighted well and should run a good race.

3:40 Wolverhampton - Big Bad Lol
Ed Walker's three-year-old hasn't enjoyed a victory in his career yet but is improving and deserves to go well here. He shaped really well on his handicap debut at Nottingham but just fizzled out of contention and can go better here on his all-weather debut.

4:10 Wolverhampton - My Brunette
This is the sort of filly who really needed her first run to educate her and after that effort she can go really strongly today. She finished in fourth at Windsor, but was a tad green and that outing will help her a significant amount today. This is a weak maiden but she should improve and could prove herself as the best by a good margin here.

Monday's Best Bets: Piton Pete to pick them off

Tippin’ Jimmy gives us his best bets from across the day’s racing.

12:40 Plumpton – Piton Pete
Oliver Sherwood ranks Piton Pete as one of his top novices for the season, and he should be able to strike following last month’s Huntingdon second. He wasn’t defeated by too far that day when suffering interference in running before losing out to a very smart prospect in Equus Secretus. There is much more to come from him.

12:50 Southwell – Jock Talk
Gordon Elliott is very keen to get a win into Jock Talk and this race looks the ideal opportunity for the three-year-old at Southwell. He went very close on his penultimate start at Dundalk a fortnight back. He looks very fairly handicapped and deserves to break his maiden in a race which will suit the Irish raider really well.

1:40 Plumpton – Carnspindle
Warren Greatrex’s Carnspindle hasn’t been performing yet and will need a fair bit of improvement, but I do think she is capable. Her form last season was very promising but she has been very poor on her two outings since. There should be a fair bit more to come and she should like the race today.

Sunday's Best Bets: Death can restore his winning Duty

Tippin' Jimmy gives us his five best bets from Sunday's racing

12:50 Carlisle - Black Tulip (4/1)
Richard Johnson is making a very long journey up to Cumbria to ride this horse and he should be coming back with another winner to his name. Henry Daly's mare finished sixth last time but desperately needed the run and there is plenty more to come. She's on a nice mark, and deserves to go really well.

1:20 Carlisle - Benie Des Dieux (4/9)
It is very rare that Rich Ricci describes a mare as very special, so when one is this price at a track like Carlisle you must be wary. This is a good little race, but this mare was a really good winner on her sole chase start at Limerick and the fashion she won it in was mightily impressive. If she is as good as first figured, then this could be a walkover although it is a good little race.

1:55 Carlisle - Meadowcroft Boy (3/1)
Alistair Whillans has a nice eight-year-old here who can utilise a very nice mark up in Cumbria today. He won well at Kelso in October, before losing narrowly here. He'll like all the conditions and there should be another good performance in him.

2:35 Fairyhouse - Death Duty (8/11)
I thought he would blossom at the Festival last season but things didn't work out and since he has gone chasing he's been exceptional. Gordon Elliott's six-year-old has been really good in two outings and steps up to Grade One level here. I like him and if he runs his race he should be hard to stop.

3:40 Fairyhouse - Dinons (2/1)
This four-year-old was second to Red Jack on his only visit to the racecourse and that form makes him the one to beat here. He's a lovely propsect, should enjoy the conditions and deserves to run well here under Jamie Codd.

Saturday's Best Bets: Light can be Magic at Fairyhouse

Tippin' Jimmy gives us his best bets from Saturday's racecard, including the day's Lucky 15.

11:55 Newcastle - Act Of Valour
Paul Nicholls rates this horse quite highly and he should make a winning start for the master of Ditcheat today. He has boasted some good flat form, and the vibes at home are really encouraging. This isn't the toughest race in the world, and he could progress into a very good juvenile this year.

12:25 Bangor - Tommy Silver
Another for Paul Nicholls I like is Tommy Silver who goes to Wales seeking a second win as a chaser. He ran well at Leicester when winning a four-runner race and is very nicely handicapped. If he runs his race he should be hard to beat.

12:30 Newcastle - Well Above Par
Lucinda Russell is quite sweet on this chaser who is most certainly better than his current mark of 112. He travelled very well when last seen at Ayr, and was leading before falling on the third from last hurdle. He will love the conditions, has a lovely low riding weight and should go very well.

12:50 Fairyhouse - Magic Of Light
Jessica Harrington's six-year-old has been in very good form but took a tumble last time and will need to recover. She has been jumping well and was going well in a listed race before falling so should be on a perfect mark for today's handicap assignment. If the trip isn't too short and she jumps well then she must have a good chance.

1:15 Doncaster - Most Celebrated
This horse really is quite a big price considering he is the best horse in the race! He turned out to be a very good winner at Plumpton in April, and was going well before falling at Sandown last month. There should be a tad more improvement to come, he is on a nice mark and will enjoy the ground.

1:55 Fairyhouse - Blow By Blow
He was a Grade One bumper winner two seasons back for Gordon Elliott and he should be every bit as good over hurdles. His return was decent, he just desperately needed the run and he will come on for it a significant amount. This is a competitive race, but he should run very well with everything considered.

3:20 Newcastle - Beware The Bear
Nicky Henderson thinks a fair bit of this horse who makes his seasonal return at Newcastle. He has the class, mark and conditions all in his favour and looks like one who could be really good this season! My only pressing concern is whether he may need this run.

Friday's Best Bets: It could be the 'Day' for Judgement

Tippin' Jimmy has some strong fancies on Friday

12:20 Newbury - Simply The Betts (3/1)
Harry Whittingdon has very high hopes that Simply The Betts can win plenty of races as a novice hurdler last season, and he looks set to be on a very nice mark for this race today. He won very well on his debut and should improve from that outing. He will win his fair share of races this season.

12:45 Limerick - Judgement Day (6/5)
Henry De Bromhead has just found a few too good when saddling Judgement Day but that shouldn't be the case for this afternoon. The five-year-old was third last time out but he should continue progressing here and could take all the beating

1:15 Limerick - Sympa Des Flos (5/4)
The Rich Ricci colours are always a very good sign for whether a horse could be special, and Sympa Des Flos is one that is surely good enough to win a maiden hurdle. He is a very nice prospect having finished a runner-up on his debut in France. He has finished second when sent off a favourite since, but the jockey who knows him best is in the saddle and there should be a win in him soon.

1:20 Newbury - Chef Des Obeaux (11/4)
After a promising bumper second here in March, I am expecting Chef Des Obeaux to prove a very nice type over hurdles this year for Nicky Henderson. The form of that bumper was quite good, and he acted on soft that day too. He should be capable of running a big race here.

3:10 Doncaster - Delirious Love (16/1) ew
Graeme McPherson thinks awfully highly of this one and he makes his debut this afternoon. He is a big price, but this isn't the strongest of races and he should be one that can make an impact sooner rather than later.

3:35 Newbury - Forza Milan (6/1)
Forza Milan remains on a pretty useful mark for Jonjo O'Neill and I can see him winning off it before too long. He ran excellent when second behind a well fancied horse at Aintree last time out, and despite going up 6lb he should go well again. He is from a great family and should have a lot more improvement to come this year.
