Friday's Best Bets: I'm Happily awaiting the weekend

2:30 Doncaster – Learn By Heart (Evs)

My NAP for the day, and I do think these odds are a steal! He’s out of a Group Two winner and related to related to good horses Call To Mind and Recorder. On debut he ran very well when not beaten too far when third at Haydock. The form of that race was reasonably strong, and I’m expecting him to break his maiden with Ryan Moore on board.

5:30 Doncaster – Twilight Spirit (16/1) ew

A horse I have been following for a while is Twilight Spirit, who I do feel will be winning sprints within time. She’s been an expensive horse to follow, with no wins in four runs. Her breeding is exceptional, being related to Twilght Son and Music Master. She could only finish seventh on her seasonal bow in May, but I do think she can run a big race at a big price.

Happily is a full sister to dual Guineas winner and five time Group One winner Gleneagles

5:45 Curragh – Happily (11/8)

A beautifully bred filly from Ballydoyle who looks to be one to keep an eye on throughout the season. She’s a full sister to the brilliant Gleneagles and Marvellous, both Guineas winners, and already has racecourse experience. She finished seventh at the Curragh, in a race won by recent Chesham winner September. She was very green in the early stages, but made up a lot of ground late on. She’ll be much better for that effort, and if she’s showing her potential should be up to winning a maiden.

6:10 Chester – Right Action (4/1)

A nice prospect for Richard Fahey who could be much better than his mark of 76 suggests. He won well at Carlisle on his penultimate start, before going very close at Wetherby on soft ground last time out. He’s only been raised 2lb for that head defeat, and should have a bold chance once again.

7:35 Newcastle – Marine One (11/4)

This son of Frankel has ran well on three occasions, and I do feel can strike on the fourth time of asking. He’s improved from each run and was last seen finishing third at Kempton, against some nice prospects. This race doesn’t look as strong, and I’m expecting a bold effort from David Simcock’s well-bred colt.

3:00 Carlisle – West Drive (5/1)

Trained by top handler Roger Varian, West Drive can bag a third straight victory after an impressive performance at Windsor last time out. He ran very well, beating Opposition who won next time out at York. He won narrowly but should improve from that run, he’s a progressive type and looks to have a lot of potential. The conditions at Carlisle are testing, but he should handle it.

6:50 Naas - Yulong Xionghu (6/4) NAP

Mick Halford's well-bred colt should be the one they all have to beat here is Yulong Xionghu. The three-year-old finished second on his only start, when not beaten too far by two-time listed placed True Valor. That horse had more experience that day, having being beaten narrowly by multiple group placed Lancaster Bomber. That form stacks up much better than the rest of the field, and he should improve from that run significantly. He should act on the ground and trip, he’s improving, and looks a brilliant prospect in the making. I really like his chances, and think he'll run a huge race.

8:50 Naas – Breeze (9/1) each-way

Another horse in Ireland who could be set for a maiden win is Breeze for Fozzy Stack. I’ve been following the three-year-old in all of his three starts, and he ran two good races when fourth before going a lot better last time out when second. He lost out to a good horse that day, and should improve from that effort. This is a very tough maiden contest, but he should give another strong account of himself.
